  • EXHIBITION | A Fleeting Reality: Work-in-Progress

    In a growing art world, creative processes and challenges faced by artists are often neglected. This exhibition highlights these challenges and investigates the concept of Time through different themes. Memory, identity, experimentation and non-linearity are highlighted by Mashael Al-Hejazi’s complex printing processes and documentation of old Doha neighborhoods, Jasser Alagha’s explorations of TKC’s -Third Culture Kids- collective memory, Latifa Al-Kuwari’s studies of the nature of time, and limitless variations created through embracing errors and experimentation by Hind Al Saad.

  • WORKSHOP | Amena Al Yousef: Natural Pigments Extraction

    This workshop will focus on different methods of pigment extraction from dried plants and natural minerals that come from the landscape. We will be looking at how lake and ochre pigments are made, and how to turn them into usable oil paint. Special attention will be paid on purifying these dried plants and crushed minerals to create a lasting and quality product. After getting familiar with these methods, we will be looking through the studies of artist Joseph Albers when it comes to basic colour interaction and theories.

    This three-part workshop will use innovative models to design a sustainable future city, that is inclusive of creativity and culture. It will be led by architect Maureen Ferry as part of a year-long global pilot of her “UrbanEngineers” programme.

    The workshop outcomes will be:
    -      Day 1: Learn new design models about cities that incorporates the natural, cultural and built environments.
    -      Day 2: Develop ideas about what creative and resilient city can be.
    -      Day 3: Design and build a scaled city model and invent a product for that city.
