Maryam Al-Homaid is an interdisciplinary designer. Her curiosity and exploration in design grew from a personal interest in prototyping and making. Her interest revolves around the concept of documenting today's changing phenomena, mixing physical mediums with digital techniques to a create series of installations that communicate the idea of change. She believes that mixing technology-based mediums and the DIY culture can build the bridges between today's high-tech mediums and the lost crafts of the Arabian Gulf.

Al-Homaid exhibited her work locally and internationally, including QM Gallery Al Riwaq, Garage Gallery at the Fire Station, Milan Design Week, and Maison et Object in Paris, among others. She holds a BFA in Graphic Design and an MFA in Design Studies, both from VCUarts Qatar, where she is also an Assistant Professor in the Graphic Design department.
