As an artist, archaeologist, and curator, Alexandrine has a deep connection with raw materials, memory, and territory. Her research into the sedentarization of nomads in the Arab world informs her entire artistic practice. What traces are left by these shifting populations? Clay, which becomes durable when fired at a certain temperature, is central to her exploration of these territories. For the last 40 years, since her first visit to Qatar, she has studied the practices of potters and interpreted the traces left in clay, using her extensive collection of notebooks, sketches, and ink drawings.
