Fire Station, in collaboration with Liwan Design Studios and Labs, invites you to a two-day digital fabrication workshop exploring how memories and personal experiences can be translated into physical form.
Digital fabrication has become an important tool in contemporary art, allowing artists to translate observations, experiences, and personal narratives into physical forms. It opens new ways of thinking about material, process, and making—connecting digital design with hands-on production.
Beginning with an introduction to laser-cutting technologies and examples of contemporary artists working with digital fabrication, participants will explore how memories, personal objects, and everyday observations can become starting points for new artistic ideas.
Through sketching, vector drawing, and laser cutting, participants will develop a unique set of layered acrylic coasters inspired by personal memories, meaningful objects, and the places and details that shape their everyday lives. They will explore pattern, repetition, transparency, abstraction, light, and spatial depth, considering how these elements can express identity, memory, and place.
Suitable for beginners, the workshop offers a balance of creative exploration and technical skill-building. By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with an original set of laser-cut acrylic artworks and an introduction to contemporary digital fabrication practices.
