Both New York and Paris are distinguished by their unique architectural character; Paris, the charming city with its stone buildings and attractive balconies while the sun rays reflect strikingly on the New York City’s skyscrapers. In both cities, the streets are filled with stories of people from different cultures and the sources of inspiration are endless, as they are full of parks, museums, libraries, and historical monuments that stimulate creativity and nourish the mind and soul. Each travel experience begins with waiting, anticipation, excitement, and mystery. It is then interspersed with exploration and learning. Regardless of the expectation and the outcome, each trip remains as a chapter in the voyager’s memory with its details and encounters.

In its second edition, the exhibition presents the works of the artists who participated in the Fire Station’s New York and Paris Residency programme in 2024. Each artist narrates their story with a series of works influenced by that journey and the challenges and adventures they embarked on. Taking inspiration from the cities, nature, social life, solitude, and the diversity of sources which enriched that experience and left an impact on their practice.

The exhibition features Saida AlBader, Muneera Al-Buainian, Fouz Saif (New York Residency at the International Studio and Curatorial Program), Ghada AlKuwari and Sheikha Al-Khulaifi (Paris Residency at Cité Internationale des Arts).

This exhibition is organized by Saida Alkhulaifi and Fatima Alzaini, with support from the Fire Station Fabrication Lab and Wood Workshop.
