Leena Kim is a visual artist working across video, photography, text, and installation. Her work explores the distance between places as they are experienced and as they are remembered, imagined, or encountered through images. She examines how these environments are transformed by memory, longing, and emotional projection, becoming as much imagined and psychological spaces as physical ones. In a culture saturated by images, she is interested in how familiar representations of the natural world continue to generate wonder and emotional attachment despite their repetition.
Her work invites viewers to move between observation and interpretation, recognition and ambiguity, creating spaces in which images of place are encountered as immersive and unstable forms. Image, sound, and written dialogue are used not to document a place, but to evoke the shifting ways it may be perceived, inhabited, or recalled.
