ARTIST'S INTENSIVE STUDY PROGRAMME 1

Leena Kim’s work examines how images shape emotion, time, and perception in the contemporary world. Working across video, photography, and installation, she explores the tension between digital memory and physical experience — how screens, archives, and visual systems construct our understanding of presence and distance. Her installations often unfold as projected environments, where moving images transform the spatial and sensory rhythm of a place.

Leena translates these mediated conditions into cinematic and spatial forms that blur the line between image and experience. Through light, rhythm, and narrative voice, she explores how emotion lingers in space — how landscape can hold memory, distance, and the afterimage of connection. Her works evoke the sensation of a place rather than its documentation, tracing how intimacy and disconnection coexist within contemporary perception.

Her recent projects consider the quiet instability of the digital age, the way technology both preserves and erodes intimacy, and how the act of looking itself has become an emotional gesture. Through layered editing, voice, and narrative rhythm, Leena constructs spaces where perception stretches and the viewer becomes aware of their own temporal experience.

Across media, her practice reflects on how we exist within an excess of images, and how beauty, memory, nostalgia, and absence continue to coexist within that saturation.
