To celebrate the public opening of the exhibition KAWS: HE EATS ALONE, the curator Germano Celant will explore KAWS’ creative journey in conversation with the artist.
About the artist:
KAWS' (Brian Donnelly, born 1974, USA) prolific body of influential work straddles the worlds of art and design to include paintings, murals, graphic and product design, street art, and large-scale sculptures. Over the last two decades KAWS has built a successful career with work that consistently shows his formal agility as an artist, as well as his underlying wit, irreverence, and affection for society today. He often draws inspiration and appropriates from pop culture animations to form a unique artistic vocabulary for his works across various mediums.
About the curator:
Art historian and theoretician, Germano Celant (born 1940, Italy) is widely acknowledged for his theories on Arte Povera. He is Artistic and Scientific Superintendent of Fondazione Prada Milan and Venice, and Curator at Fondazione Aldo Rossi, Milan, and Fondazione Emilio e Annabianca Vedova, Venice.
