WORKSHOP | Noor Yousef: Journaling

Saturday, February 15, 2020

In addition to technique, inspiration and process are the pillars in any creative project. Keeping a journal, and expressing emotions and ideas, plays an important role in Noor’s artistic process. In this session, the artist will give an overview of journaling to better understand feelings we go through which helps in pouring out emotions and calming us during stressful times. Different words will be displayed to participants which are meant to evoke certain emotions. They will then choose a material that helps them transform what they felt into a physical form.

Noor Yousef is a Qatari artist. Through her journaling practice, her work questions the common social constructions revolving around motherhood, and the pressure society imposes on expecting mothers. She is in residence at the Fire Station, 2019-20.
