WORKSHOP | Charlene Kasdorf: Exploratory Illustration

Saturday, January 23, 2021

“Exploratory Illustration” is a creative and whimsical workshop by Charlene Kasdorf that will guide participants to create exploratory illustrations, invigorate practices for advanced drawers as well as guide novice creators.

The playful introduction activity introduces participants to illustration techniques while concocting characters. The second part will exercise these learnt techniques and invites an interaction with memory, using cut paper and pencil.

The session is intended to invigorate practices for advanced drawers as well as guide novice drawers/creators.

Charlene Kasdorf has illustrated several picture books, and collaborated on projects with museums, universities, and publishing companies, in Canada, the UK, and Qatar. Her education includes a BFA, a MEd, and recently a Masters in Museum and Gallery Practice. She has attended several illustration conferences and aims to share knowledge of visual literacy, in a playful way.

Materials will be supplied and participants will be requested to bring one to three objects that are connected to a childhood memory.
