EXHIBITION | Colourful Moments

Wednesday, September 23, 2020 to Saturday, October 24, 2020

Colourful Moments, Asma Al-Mannai’s first solo exhibition, the artist reflects on instances created from her observations living in her home country, Qatar, and other encounters she had in France during her residency in Cité internationale des arts in Paris, 2019. Al-Mannai recollects moments that passed before her eyes alone, and she presents them in this exhibition through a series of paintings and drawings, ranging from reality and modernity to the simple and the complex. She expresses her fascination with passing moments through different methods and mediums, such as drawing, painting, watercolour, and ink.

“We live in an earthly experience which differs in place and time, my experience and your experience; both are parallel worlds that each of us lives in, combined by moments that speak of time, angle and feelings circulating in days and years. Here, I contemplate these moments repeatedly through our imagination, freezing them through an image, a painting, or an artwork.” –Asma Al-Mannai
